Special Lecture on Gender Issues

By: Par Men Tial, Gender Officer, CHANGE CM Project

Gender issues in Myanmar continue to be a significant concern, with women facing various challenges in different aspects of their lives. One of the key issues is the limited access to education and employment opportunities for women. Despite progress in recent years, gender disparities persist, particularly in rural areas where traditional gender roles are deeply ingrained.

Violence against women is another pressing issue in Myanmar. Domestic violence, sexual harassment, and human trafficking remain prevalent, often due to a lack of legal protection and inadequate support systems. Additionally, women's participation in decision-making processes and political representation is significantly lower compared to men.

Efforts are being made to address these gender issues in Myanmar. Organizations and activists are advocating for policy reforms, promoting women's empowerment, and raising awareness about gender equality. The government has also taken steps to improve women's rights, including the enactment of laws to combat violence against women.
